If New York had a screen door the sound of it opening and banging shut would drive half the State insane. New York is Arizona in reverse - Pennsylvania may station troopers at the border to stop fleeing NY residents from heading south.

From the NY Post:

Taxed-out New Yorkers are voting with their feet, with a staggering 1.6 million residents fleeing the state over the last decade, a new report found.

That's as if the entire populations of Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, White Plains and West Babylon combined had packed up and left.

For the second consecutive decade, New York led the nation in the percentage of residents leaving for other states, according to the report by the Empire Center for State Policy.

The population loss is "the ultimate barometer of New York's attractiveness as a place to work, live and do business," said the report's co-author, E.J. McMahon. "It's the ultimate indication that we've been doing things wrong."

This is reminiscent of mass migrations of artic caribou, swallows to Capistrano and Berliners manifesting their displeasure with the communist government of East Germany.

Most analysts blamed New York's high taxes and skyrocketing cost of living for the mass exodus.

The Tax Foundation ranked New York highest in the nation in the combined state and local tax burden in 2008. And as small-business lobbyist Mike Durant noted, New York has also "consistently ranked worst or in the top three worst in business climate.

"You can't suck every penny out of people and expect them to remain in New York," added Durant, New York state director of the National Federation of Independent Business.

Since 1960, New York has lost 7.3 million residents to other states -- a net loss of 2.5 million people after adding in an influx of 4.8 million new immigrants, the study found.

Even counting the state's high influx of immigrants, New York still suffered a bigger net loss than all but three other states during the last decade, according to the analysis of 2010 Census data by the fiscally conservative think tank.

I left Smithtown, Long Island, in 1967 when I to college. Smithtown is a pretty quiet burg so it is rare that I see anything in the news from there. Today I was surprised and not happy at all to see this. From the NY Post:

A Purple Heart recipient survived a deadly suicide attack in Afghanistan, only to perish today in a violent car crash at his own birthday party in Long Island, officials said.

Smithtown resident Seamus Byrne, 33, had been celebrating his big day with friends at Napper Tandy’s Irish Pub and was walking home at 1:45 a.m. when he was hit.

Byrne, who lived just a half-mile away from the pub, was in the cross walk headed home but realizing he had forgotten to say good night to one well-wisher, according to father-in-law James Gallagher.

When Byrne turned back, that’s when a 1998 Honda driven by Michael Armentano, 24, also of Smithtown, plowed into the vet, cops said.

Armentano has no priors and was not impaired, officials said. Cops are still investigating, but have so far ruled the tragic crash as an accident.

“He was just a really good guy, full if vigor and he loved his family,” Gallagher said of his fallen son-in-law. “It’s a tragedy.”

Byrne, a member of the Army National Guard’s Fighting 69th Infantry Regiment, was deployed to Afghanistan in January, 2008, his family said.

He was in a Humvee when a suicide bomber attacked nearby, killing nine and severely injuring Byrne.

While the idiots in charge of the Department of Homeland Security stick their fingers in their ears and yell, "Our borders are secure," criminals from other nations cross our borders with little or no government interference to wreck havoc on Americans. In 2009, nearly a thousand dangerous illegal aliens were released into our communities from jails and correctional facilities without any intervention by federal authorities to deport them.

(CNSNews.com) - Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) failed to identify more than 800 criminal alien convicts eligible for deportation before they were released from U.S. prisons, including “many” of “the most egregious criminal aliens, who pose a significant pubic safety risk,” according to a report by the Inspector General for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

According to the report [2], released on Feb. 4, ICE’s Criminal Alien Program, or CAP, “is responsible for identifying criminal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, and local prisons and jails who are eligible for removal from the United States.”

Actually, the way that DHS runs our borders, it doesn't make much of a difference whether or not they're deported, but more on that later.

In fiscal year 2009, CAP failed to identify 890 criminal aliens eligible for removal from the United States, according to the report. These criminals had been incarcerated in facilities in Texas and California and were released back into U.S. society.

A criminal alien eligible for removal is a person who is in the United States illegally and is subsequently convicted of a crime or was a legal permanent residents convicted of a removable offense, such as murder and other felonies.

Here's the money quote; the ICE Inspector General's report identifies nearly a half million illegal alien criminals a year that are subject to deportation. What the hell are these people doing here in the first place?

ICE agents “do not always record and retain critical information and documentation used to determine the status of foreign-born inmates incarcerated in federal and state prisons,” the report stated. “This is because ICE procedures do not require agents to record and retain such information.”

“As a result, ICE is unable to provide assurance that its [Criminal Alien Program] agents are screening all potentially removable foreign-born inmates incarcerated in federal and state correctional facilities,” the report continued.

According to the IG report, the screening under the criminal alien removal program refers to “electronic records check and interview that [ICE] agents may conduct to determine if a foreign-born inmate is removable.”

[...] “ICE estimates that 300,000 to 450,000 criminal aliens who are eligible for removal are detained each year at federal, state, and local correctional facilities,” the IG report stated.

The blog, Vital Signs, describes one particular Mexican who makes mockery of our borders, our laws and feeds on our citizens.

Last October I posted here on Vital Signs Blog about Jose Lopez Madrigal, a Mexican citizen who had recently arrested for raping a young, "slightly disabled" woman in Edmonds, Washington.
I pointed out that, "Once investigators worked their way through Madrigal's 30 aliases, they discovered he had an incredible criminal record dating back to 1989 and ranging all over the western part of the United States. His previous crimes have included theft, theft using a firearm, several drug and drug sales crimes, and sexual assault.
So why isn't he behind bars? Well, in part it's because judges have decided to deport him rather than jail him. But with the laughable security measures of our borders, Madrigal just comes back whenever he feels like it to prey on American citizens again.

It's hardly surprising that Immigrations and Customs Enforcement refuses to comment on the case.

In a postmodern, post-Christian America there is no accountability by the government; we are just wage slaves whose sole purpose in life is to feed the politicians and their bloated, useless government bureaucracy. The following is one of the elements of postmodernism (from the University of Colorado):

Reason is the ultimate judge of what is true, and therefore of what is right, and what is good (what is legal and what is ethical). Freedom consists of obedience to the laws that conform to the knowledge discovered by reason.

Forget conscience and duty and morality as defined by Scripture as the French did in their ill-fated 18th century revolution.

After executing Louis VIV in 1793, the French promoted "reason" as their standard for governing, even honoring a "Goddess of Reason" - it lead to the Reign of Terror and slaughter. Apparently the slaughter of American citizens on our own soil by foreign nationals is of no concern to the US government.

Mario Montalban-Ramirez, 61, was convicted of manslaughter in Illinois in 1982, convicted of murder in Texas in 1984 and sent back to his native Mexico three times -- in 1996, 1997 and 2003 -- for being in the United States illegally. He also has been a frequent customer in local jails, locked up for such offenses as DWI, theft, assault and being a fugitive from justice.

This is beyond insanity. This is evil incompetence or deliberate malfeasance on behalf of liberals who worship the Goddess of Reason.

A romantic relationship that soured sparked a Manassas man to fatally shoot his ex-girlfriend and two other people and wound three more in a shocking spate of violence that shattered a close-knit neighborhood, authorities said Friday.

Jose Oswaldo Reyes-Alfaro, 37, a Salvadoran national who was in the country illegally, was armed with a .38-caliber revolver when he went to the Hood Road townhouse he shared with Brenda Ashcraft, 56, just after 7 p.m. Thursday, according to police and court records. After fatally shooting Ashcraft's son and wounding two other family members, including a teenage girl, he shot Ashcraft in the head as she tried to dial 911, police said.

Reyes-Alfaro then went to a house just blocks away and used the last bullet in the revolver to kill his friend Julio Cesar Ulloa, 48, court records say. Using a large knife or machete, he cut Ulloa's 77-year-old landlady in the head, the records say.

If I tremble at the lack of talent and intellect that is prevalent in our college graduates, I quake at the thought of what is coming out of our law schools, for these are our future judges. From the Wall Street Journal:

Judge Roger Vinson's order last week declaring ObamaCare unconstitutional has prompted a pair of op-eds by professors at elite law schools: Akhil Reed Amar of Yale, in the Los Angeles Times, and Laurence Tribe of Harvard, in the New York Times. Both profs claim ObamaCare is constitutional.

We were going to write "argue" rather than "claim," but we think that may be too generous. Neither article is a serious piece of legal analysis, because both professors simply refuse to take seriously the legal arguments on the other side, even after those arguments have been accepted by two federal trial judges. Rather than grapple with a novel legal issue in a serious scholarly way, it's as if they stick their fingers in their ears and sing "Law law law law law."

Amar's piece is just insulting. He opens by declaring: "My students understand the Constitution better than the judge," and closes by likening Vinson's order to (we're not kidding) the infamous Dred Scott case: "In 1857, another judge named Roger distorted the Constitution, disregarded precedent, disrespected Congress and proclaimed that the basic platform of one of America's two major political parties was unconstitutional."
There's no way our liberties can survive under the onslaught of an activist judicial system, a socialist President and a Congress full of raving liberals. The system of checks and balances falls apart and tyranny is the ultimate result.

[...] Tribe claims that the judges who overturned ObamaCare "made the confused assertion that what is at stake here is a matter of personal liberty--the right not to purchase what one wishes not to purchase--rather than the reach of national legislative power." That is false. Both judges concluded that Congress had exceeded its constitutional power, not that it had violated an individual constitutional right.
And these clowns are law professors!

I don't drink anymore and I am not angry; well - at least I am not throwing things against the wall, but I just got notification in the mail that the federal witholding taken out of my pension has increased by over 56%, effective immediately.

The Chinese recently unveiled their new stealthy fighter plane as it prepared for its first test flight. Initial reports indicated that Chinese aerospace engineers were supplied with parts from an F-117 that was shot down over Serbia in 1999.

Well, maybe the Chinese are not quite as good at reverse engineering as we thought.

In an article posted on Military.com that seems not to have reached the MSM, an American stealth engineer was just sentenced to 32 years in prison for selling military secrets to the Chinese. He should have been shot.
HONOLULU - A former B-2 stealth bomber engineer was sentenced to 32 years in prison Monday for selling military secrets to China in the latest of several high-profile cases of Chinese espionage in the U.S.

Chief U.S. District Judge Susan Oki Mollway said Noshir Gowadia, 66, would likely be in his late 80s by the time he is released if he gets credit for good behavior in prison.

"He broke his oath of loyalty to this country," Mollway said. "He was found guilty of marketing valuable technology to foreign countries for personal gain."

Gowadia, who was born in India, was convicted in August on 14 counts, including communicating national defense information to aid a foreign nation and violating the arms export control act.

Prosecutors said Gowadia helped China design a stealth cruise missile to get money to pay the $15,000-a-month mortgage on his luxurious multimillion dollar home overlooking the ocean on Maui. They say he pocketed at least $110,000 by selling military secrets.

The defense argued Gowadia only provided unclassified information to China and was innocent.

Like they didn't use his information to build the new J-20 pictured above. Between the Chinese and other wog engineers who infest our research facilities, we won't be able to build a toaster oven without some other country beating us to market with it.

The metric is based on average number of drinks per person per month, percentage of adults who are heavy drinkers, percentage of adults who are binge drinkers and deaths per 100,000 residents from liver cancer. Following Milwaukee, a city associated with beer production, were Fargo, N.D.; San Francisco; Austin; and Reno, Nev.

Considering only average drinks per person, per month, Milwaukee doesn't rate particularly high, trailing Austin; Boston (eighth overall); and Anchorage, Alaska (ninth), among other cities.

However, that could just prove the point that the folks in Milwaukee aren't sipping a glass of wine a day to keep their heart strong -- they're just out there on Friday nights drinking like there's no tomorrow.

As The Feds Investigate, Another Storm Approaches NYC

This is the front of our house after receiving over seventy inches of snow last month. And with less than a handful of plows our Highway Dept. kept the village streets clear and also picked up the garbage every week without a hitch. Our village workers make much less than NYC sanitation workers:

The current starting salary of a Sanitation Worker is $31,200 per year. The current labor agreement provides for periodic increases to a maximum of $67,141 after 5 1/2 years. In addition to the basic annual wages, Sanitation Workers may also earn differential payments based on their specific assignment and overtime.

It was reported that hundredsof NYC sanitation workers earn over $100,000 per year prompting outrage by NYC tax payers who have lost their jobs due to the poor perofrmance of the economy. It doesn't help that billions of federal stimulus dollars were used to shore up failing public sector union pensions funds.

According to the Manhattan Institute's "See Through New York" database of 2009 pensions, nearly 180 retired employees make over $66,000 year -- in other words, over and above the maximum salary of currently working employees. In fact, 20 retirees make upwards of $90,000 in retirement, up to $132,360.

[...]According to an October report from the Empire Center for New York State Policy, New York City has nearly $63 billion in unfunded liabilities for government retiree health benefits -- effectively shoveling $7,343 per city resident into public workers' pockets.

Councilman Dan Halloran asked the feds to look into this after nearly a half dozen City workers informed him of the job action.

The investigation by the Brooklyn U.S. Attorney's public integrity unit was prompted by Queens Councilman Dan Halloran's revelation that guilt-wracked sanitation and transportation workers had confessed an alleged work slowdown to him.

If the claim is true, the feds could examine whether wire or mail fraud statutes were violated by workers pocketing overtime pay during an illegal job action, sources said.

Of course not every worker is a lazy slug, but apparently enough are. If the union is found to be complicit in this action, look for some horrendous lawsuits that will break them. Hey, this is the Big Apple, look for lawsuits anyway.

A Christmas Gift From Our GI's

I haven't been posting much due to illness. Charlie the ChiTown Cop sent me this; I read it just after we got off the phone with Soldier Girl this morning. She is currently running missions outside of Kandahar. The MRAP MaxPro is the vehicle she drives as depicted above. It is a 25 ton bruiser.

I had no Christmas spirit when I breathed a weary sigh,
and looked across the table where the bills were piled too high.
The laundry wasn't finished and the dinner I had to fix,
The dishwasher wouldn't work, and now it's all in bits
And so with only minutes till my son got home from school,
I gave up on the drudgery and grabbed a wooden stool.
The burdens that I carried were about all I could take,
and so I flipped the TV on to catch a little break.

I came upon a desert scene in shades of tan and rust,
No snowflakes hung upon the wind, just clouds of swirling dust.
And where the reindeer should have stood before a laden sleigh,
eight hummers ran a column right behind an M1A.
A group of boys walked past the tank, not one was past his teens,
Their eyes were hard as polished flint, their faces drawn and lean.

They walked the street in armor with their rifles shouldered tight,
their dearest wish for Christmas, just to have a silent night.
Other soldiers gathered, hunkered down against the wind,
To share a scrap of mail and dreams of going home again.
There wasn't much at all to put their lonely hearts at ease,
They had no Christmas turkey, just a pack of MRE's.
They didn't have a garland or a stocking I could see,
They didn't need an ornament-- they lacked a Christmas Tree.
They didn't have a present even though it was tradition,
the only boxes I could see were labeled "ammunition".

and kissed him on the forehead as I whispered in his ear.

There's nothing wrong, my little son, for safe we sleep tonight.
Our heroes stand on foreign land to give us all the right,
to worry about the things in life that really mean nothing at all,
instead of wondering each day if we will be the next to fall.
He looked at me as children do and said it's always right,
to thank the ones who help us and perhaps that we should write.

And so we pushed aside the bills and sat to draft a note,
to thank the many far from home, and this is what we wrote,

Soldier Girl's Pics

We finally got an idea of Soldier Girl's new digs in COP Caron. Her unit is assigned to support the 4th Infantry Division. It looks pretty grim but she is enjoying her assignment; especially since she was trained as a MRAP driver. Now that is a truck! I wonder if it is good in snow?

In June 2008, USA Today reported that roadside bomb attacks and fatalities were down almost 90% partially due to MRAPs. "They've taken hits, many, many hits that would have killed soldiers and Marines in uparmored Humvees," according to Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Maj. General Rick Lynch, who commanded a division in Baghdad, told USA Today the 14-ton MRAPs have forced insurgents to build bigger, more sophisticated bombs to knock out the vehicles. Those bombs take more time and resources to build and set up, which gives U.S. forces a better chance of catching the insurgents in the act and then attacking them.

This is Soldier Girl in the driver's seat. The first time she took the MRAP out she said she nearly gave the other GI's whip lash but she quickly got the hang of it. This 14 ton MRAP makes my 4,700 pound Explorer look like a pansy.

Last September I posted a story about the actions of the 101st Combat Brigade in Kunar Province, right on the Afghan border with Pakistan. Then in October I posted another story regarding the return home of Billy Jr. and his participation in fighting off that September Taliban attack. His picture is attached above.

Last night his dad text'd me stating that Billy Jr. has just received the Bronze Star.

We are so very proud of Billy Jr. and rejoice with his family. He will be rotated home in the Spring.

Until then, LORD, keep him and his comrades-in-arms safe. Bring them all home to their families.

On a personal note, our daughter has finally reached her assigned post, COP Caran. I believe it is about 50 miles from Kandahar. It is a small Contingency Operation Post assigned with a unit from the 4th Infantry Division. She goes out on convoys assigned as a gunner in a MRAP. But this one is different; unlike the soldier who was wounded in the September post, her top mount fifty cal is equipped with a camera and electric drive. She operates it like a video game. I like that very much.

In western civilization's race to abandon Christianity, there are a host of old lies that are re-emerging. The dominance of the west came only after Christianity was universally accepted. Now we see inroads by these and other religions, most notably Islam. As Europe abandons its Christian heritage for other faiths, it abandons the cornerstone of it's culture for the past 1,700 years. Look for more European lunacy as they auger themselves into a moral and cultural morass. It will not be pretty.

Feeling Better

Friday night I came down with a high fever. I rarely ever am sick, just an occasional cold or so, but this was intense. I spent the entire weekend on the couch shaking like a crack addict. Tylenol helped somewhat but I just had to let it run its course. My wife took care of me and I am ever so thankful for her. I still have to go to the doctor tomorrow but at least I feel almost normal again.

UPDATE:
That didn't last long. Same thing last night, chills and sweats and fever, oh my!
So it's off to the doctors today.

I watched the Buffalo v Pittsburgh game last night. It was truly an exciting game and I was pulling for the Bills to win. I saw Steve Johnson drop that beautiful pass in the end zone and figured, "That's it." And it was.

I then watched Mr. Johnson at the post game interview and thought he handled it pretty well, accepting fault for a perfectly thrown ball that should have been caught.

Now this.

Johnson had a perfect pass in his hands that would have given his team an overtime victory over the heavily favored Steelers.

Instead of walking off the field the hero, however, he dropped it.

I believe the Creator and Master of the Universe doesn't need a tweet to understand the immaturity of some people. God demands obedience over sacrifice or praise (1 Sam 15:22).

So relax Steve, God does indeed expect you to learn from this. It may just take some time for the lesson to sink in...

Nineteen Taliban commanders and 252 fighters were killed or captured as British troops launched a bloody assault.

Four enemy leaders masterminding a deadly explosives campaign against our forces in Afghanistan's Helmand battleground were among the dead in the six-day blitz, ending last Sunday.

And British soldiers helped capture a senior Taliban warlord who was acting as a "shadow governor" in the flashpoint province.

Generals say the offensive across Afghanistan has left many insurgents stranded without leaders and supplies. It came after 387 enemy commanders were killed or captured in previous three months, according to Nato.

The race for New York's 25th Congressional District is nearing the finish line. The counting of absentee ballots is almost over and Anne Marie Buerkle's camp says her lead is now insurmountable.

Syracuse, NY -- U.S. Rep. Dan Maffei did not pick up enough votes from Onondaga County absentee voters to reach his challenger, Republican Ann Marie Buerkle, according to results from the Onondaga County Board of Elections.

After all of Onondaga County's absentee ballots were opened, Buerkle was still ahead across four counties by a count of 103,483 to 103,224.

In Onondaga County, 3,580 absentee voters chose Maffei and 3,015 chose Buerkle.

There are still about 1,400 unopened absentee ballots in Wayne County and about 60 unopened ballots that have been challenged by the campaigns in Cayuga and Monroe counties.

Maffei is almost toast. Wait a bit for the recounts and challenges to subside. In the meantime, Take the strawberry preserves out of the fridge, get a knife out of the silverware drawer while I clear off the counter. This is gonna be tasty.

The New York State liquor distributors have refused to sell an alcoholic beverage which apparently targets young people. One can of Four Loco has the same alcohol content as four cans of beer.

New York's largest beer distributors agreed late last night to stop selling caffeinated alcoholic drinks that come in tall, colorful cans and to purge their inventory of the products, the state's Liquor Authority said.

Details of an undercover sting intended to determine whether the fruit-flavored concoctions were being sold to minors were also expected to be announced today.

New York's liquor regulators said that they had determined there was insufficient evidence to show that the products were safe.

[...]The popular drinks, which can have up to four times as much alcohol as four beers and have cartoon-worthy names like Four Loko, have been banned in Washington, Michigan, Utah and Oklahoma.

College students have been hospitalized after drinking the beverages, including in New Jersey, where one school banned them on campus.

The company that makes Four Loko, Phusion Project, didn't respond to an e-mail Saturday requesting comment about the deal. On its website, the company said it doesn't "agree with the notion that mixing caffeine and alcohol is inherently unsafe."

Yesterday we read about the incohesive, nearly incoherent ramblings of President Obama during his 60 Minutes interview with Steve Kroft. These out takes reveal a man who is lost without a script. For bonus points I threw in a site that reports some rumors circulating around DC regarding scenarios for the replacement of Obama - a coup in other words.

Think of it. A freakin' coup in 21st Century America.

Now I am reading what Rush Limbaugh has to say about the events of the past week since Election Day. Mr. Limbaugh does not come out and say that the Dems are sharpening their knives, but he doesn't say they are not. See for yourself.

Look at what's just happened here. This is the biggest drubbing since the thirties, the biggest drubbing. This is not insignificant. I think the House leadership, the Democrat leadership in the Senate, I think this narrative to keep that leadership in both houses the same is an attempt to cover up something that is far worse. I think this party knows that it is in far greater trouble in the White House and on down than they want to admit. And I think there are members of the media covering the White House who know it. I think that deep in the bowels of the Democrat Party they realize, some people realize that Obama is an utter disaster and that they're going to have to do something about it. And I think this Politico story, "Obama Isolated Ahead of 2012," is made to look like a hit piece on Obama. I don't think it's a hit piece on Obama per se. I think it is the beginning of sort of setting the table for what might happen, set the foundation for what might happen as the months ahead unfold. [emphasis mine ~sig94]

If nothing else I trust Rush's instincts. His nose is up in the air and he thinks he has caught a scent of ... something.

[...]The Democrats making it clear here that they're going to stick with the same leadership team is an effort I believe to cover up what is really going on behind the scenes and that is a total shakeup some way to limit the damage of Obama going forward into 2012. Folks, I wish that I could tie this to something substantive that I know, 'cause there isn't anything. Common sense. This kind of drubbing is not reacted to in such a cavalier manner as they are reacting to this. You don't send the president out of the country for ten days after such a drubbing unless you want him offstage domestically. [emphasis mine~sig94]

One of the rumors deals with dems planning to declare the President incapable of discharging his duties and replacing him with the Vice President as per Section 4 of the 25th Amendment of the Constitution. It reads in part:

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

The real fun begins when the President contests this action. Basically, the matter is then decided by Congress. If this drags on past mid-January, the Republicans will be in charge of Congress. Rush continues:

[...]I've always trusted my instincts, particularly in matters political. But it just strains credulity for me to believe the Democrats think nothing's wrong here except messaging, that all they need is to go talk to George Lakoff and come up with a different way of presenting their case. They know full well why they got trounced. Now, they're not gonna admit it. They're obviously gonna come up with, "Yeah, bad marketing, bad packaging, bad messaging," but there has never been this huge a personal repudiation of a president in just two years, especially one who was messianic, he has fallen from heavenly heights.

Rush refers to a Politico story that he thinks was planted by democratic insiders. It is not complementary.

President Barack Obama has performed his act of contrition. Now comes the hard part, according to Democrats around the country: reckoning with the simple fact that he’s isolated himself from virtually every group that matters in American politics.

Congressional Democrats consider him distant and blame him for their historic defeat on Tuesday. Democratic state party leaders scoff at what they see as an inattentive and hapless political operation. Democratic lobbyists feel maligned by his holier-than-thou take on their profession. His own Cabinet — with only a few exceptions — has been marginalized.

And that's about as kind as it gets. The Politico story is a recitation of the slights and insults Obama has inflicted on his fellow Democrats. And they are multitudinous. It's almost as if Obama was deliberately seeking to alienate himself from his supporters. And if that's the case, what is he up to? Can it all be explained by a supremely arrogant, overachieving communist who cares not a whit if he gets re-elected as long as he trashes America?

Again, Rush thinks this is all a set up; there is movement afoot in the highest Democratic Party circles. I am no political prognosticator by any means, but Obama's trip to the Middle East at this time could be an attempt by the herd to isolate itself from what is perceived as a threat. Do wildebeests do this? Rush continues:

This Politico story shows there is something bubbling up way below the surface and it's getting closer and closer to reaching the surface -- and if it does, I think people are gonna be shocked and stunned at what might happen. Listen to this again: "[A]nd in his icy relations with Republicans, the media, and most important most voters, and it's easy to understand why his own staff leaked word to Politico that it wants Obama to shake up his staff and change his political approach." Icy relations? Let me tell you something: His own staff leaked word to Politico that "it" wants Obama to shake up his staff? That means they're making efforts behind the scenes to get Obama to shake up his staff, and he is rejecting it, and so they're going the route of the media.

[...]Boy, how times change, folks. I mean just a few weeks ago it was Obama looking around for asses to kick, and now it's his ass being kicked by unnamed Democrats in The Politico. Somebody needs to tell whoever leaked this all to the Politico that Obama's 9,000 miles away in India. If you want to make a change now's the perfect time. He's 9,000 miles away. If you think the adults need to step up here, this is the perfect time to do it. Change the lock on the Oval Office or worse.

I still have nightmares from my first extraction; I was a poverty-striken graduate student and a filling gone bad was giving me plenty of grief During this period of my life I had several part time jobs, one of which was at a gas station. When the owner heard of my desperate plight, he told me that his daughter worked as a receptionist for a local dentist, Dr. Phineas Mendlesohn. As Merv (his name was Mervin) had more fingers than teeth, I should have known better than to accept his recommendation, but, pressed by pain, I made an emergency appointment.

I drove my 1962 Chevy Nova convertible as fast as I could to the small professional center where my oral savior awaited.

Upon entering the office I noticed that the waiting room was empty. A small, closed coffin surrounded by candles was in one corner and the coat rack held nothing but pointy hats and long, heavily stained black robes. The reception desk was situated in the midst of an ornate, inlaid ceramic pentagon.
The room's only light came from the coffin display and a half dozen or so candle sconces mounted on the walls. They were crafted apparently from ram's horns.

Merv's daughter was a very attractive, well-endowed blonde who quickly urged me into the the examination room. As I settled into the worn leather chair, I wondered at the sturdy five point harnass that she secured around my waist, neck and chest. Distracted by her considerable physical attributes (I was a young, lusty buck), I failed to notice the long, bloody scratches in the arm rests until too late. But before I could question her about it - she was gone. I then made another unpleasant discovery; I could not move from the chair.

Suddenly the door burst open and Dr. Mendlesohn appeared. The only way I could place him as a dentist was the reflector on his forehead and glistening bands of retainers strung around his neck and biceps. He was naked save for a black leather banana sling and he reeked of sulphur. As I recollect these distant events, I realize now that Dr. Mendlsohn bore a strong resemblance to Barney Frank. His dental asssistant, a tall, sternly visaged matron with "Fannie" printed on her breast name plate, was clad entirely in a heavily starched, white nurse's uniform.

The last words I heard were spoken in a heavy lisp, "Fannie, May I please have the needle?"

What followed was beyond description. I will spare you, Gentle Reader, from the horror of these long-repressed deprivations.

But, lo, as I fast forward these many years, I find myself once again confronted with the consequences of inadequate dental hygiene. Despite flossing and brushing and biannual cleanings, another extraction is scheduled for next week. The pain is not as excruciating as it was nearly forty years ago, but I will not wait for it to progress. To prepare myself for this procedure, I have borrowed from the Stones.

Another Democrat Going Down.

Anne Marie Buerkle is now winning the 25th Congressional District race in NY. Better late than never, voters in Wayne County went for her in a big way. Now, for every vote Maffei gets, Anne Marie gets two. She is leading by almost 700 votes (99,594 to 98, 935).

Now start counting the absentee ballots, mostly people serving in the armed forces, and it looks like she is going to Congress.

On my local side of the election, the Republican candidate for the 25th Congressional District, Anna Marie Buerkle, is slightly ahead (500 votes) of Democratic incumbent Daniel Maffei. Our polls closed at 9 PM so returns are limited.

A little bio on Ms. Buerkle who is endorsed by the Tea Party:

Buerkle is running as a fiscal conservative, arguing that the federal government "should have a limited role in our life." She wants lower taxes and reduced regulations for the private sector and to get "the government out of the role of creating jobs."

After losing an election for an at-large seat on the Syracuse Common Council, she was appointed to fill a vacancy in 1994. She became an assistant New York state attorney general in 1997, representing the state on behalf of Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

She's hoping an endorsement from Sarah Palin will bring in much-needed contributions and an Independence Party endorsement will draw votes.

Buerkle has not ruled out backing a proposal to privatize Social Security, and said she'll push to repeal the March 2010 health care overhaul. She wants competition across state lines for medical insurance to keep a lid on costs.

Maffei worked as a senior staffer for Rep. Charlie Rangel for seven years before winning the 25th seat when long time Republican Jim Walsh retired from Congress. He has been in office for only two years. Perhaps it will be only two years. His accomplishments?

Maffei is emphasizing pocketbook issues as voters' main concern and avoiding references to the health care reform, which he backed. He has proposed legislation to provide incentives to companies to keep jobs in the United States.

Maffei voted in favor of the 2009 $862 billion economic stimulus bill.

He has chosen to stay silent on President Barack Obama's statements regarding Muslims' right to build a mosque near ground zero.

Maffei speaks with pride about his role in bringing jobs to the 25th District. In July, he secured an $8.5 million grant for a new bus depot in Syracuse.

It sounds more like Danny was ducking and dodging rather than campaigning. I know he restricted his town hall meetings to "invitation only" in order to avoid screaming mad voters. But thanks a million 'cause, hey, that new bus thingie will really rock. And unfortunately it looks like Rangle will have no problem getting re-elected.

It is now 11:05 PM, so an hour later her lead grew by almost 3,000.

11:45 - Rats! - Buerkle is now down by 5,000 votes, 90,000 to 85,000.

7:45 PM - she's down by 2,300 and the absentee ballots are still being counted. She still has a good chance to win as these ballots tend to favor Republicans.

Leavin' On A Jet Plane

Well, her boots are gone from the kitchen again. Soldier Girl was home on final leave before her deployment to Afghanistan. A week ago Sunday she drove up from North Carolina and got home a little after midnight. We were hoping that she could stay the full two weeks but there is so much for her to do that she had to leave this morning. She registered her car in NY (she bought it while stationed in Monterrey) and will leave it with us for her sister, College Girl to use. College girl, the youngest, was also off on fall break so she was home on Thursday for the weekend. She'll drive the car back to school.

When all the girls get together it is constant pandemonium. Laughing and goofing and poking fun at each other. And yes there is wrasslin'. We mocked College Girl's boyfriend and his new "faux mohawk" haircut. I said he looked like Gumby. That was at Saturday's T-giving meal. When he came over Sunday the do was G.O.N.E.

The week went by so fast. During the mid-week Soldier Girl helped Mummsy bake the pies and all the trimmings as we celebrated an early Thanksgiving on Saturday. Mummsy is healing from surgery on her rotator cuff two weeks ago and she is still very sore. Friday night I took charge of the turkey cooking. The next day around noon I had to leave the house for a few hours. Upon my return every window and door in the house was open, my wife and daughters were running around like madmen and I could smell smoke. Apparently the bird had been over basted and the basting juices slopped over when College Girl tried to move the roasting pan. The oven was overdue for a good cleaning anyway but the floor had to be mopped four times before all the grease was off. We were almost two hours over schedule but the bird and everything else was perfect. It was truly one of the most delicious meals we ever had. As I write this, there is about seven quarts of homemade turkey soup now simmering on the stove.

Sunday (yesterday) we visited some relatives after church and had an afternoon deployment party for her at the house. Then after the party, we turned off all the upstairs lights (Halloween - bah!- buy your own candy) ; we all went downstairs to the TV room and just sat together and watched some spooky movies and ate pie.

Then at 1145 this morning Soldier Girl flew back to Ft. Bragg. Mummsy, College Girl and I got boarding passes and stayed until her plane took off. We prayed with her in the gate waiting area. I hate teary goodbyes. She leaves in ten days for Kandahar where the 525 Battlefield Surveillance Brigade is quartered but she doesn't know where her station is. Ultimately she is in God's hands and that's always a good place to be.

It's so quiet now.

There's an old adage, "A new broom sweeps clean." Apparently the voters of America may have something even more drastic in mind.

A Rasmussen Reports survey released yesterday found 65 percent of likely voters would prefer to fire every member of Congress and start from scratch.

A whopping 82 percent of Republicans and 78 percent of independents told the pollsters they wanted to give everyone on Capitol Hill the heave-ho.

And despite the Democratic Party being in charge of both the House and the Senate, registered Democrats split on the question -- 44 percent said keep Congress as is and 38 percent said give them all the boot.

The heck with a broom, I want to use something like this:

Only 20 percent of all voters wanted to keep the entire Congress unchanged.

Might as well do the job right. Run this puppy right through the Capitol and the office buildings where those rats are hiding.

"If you needed any more confirmation that Washington is perceived as a broken entity by the American people, well, this is it," said National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Ken Spain.

Neither party fared well on the poll's favorability meter: 53 percent of American voters dislike Democrats, and 54 percent dislike Republicans.

Only 61 percent of Republican voters had something nice to say about their party.

Rasmussen said that reflects "the fact that most Republican voters believe their party leaders are out of touch with the base."

I still don't think any politician will know just how pissed off the American people truly are until Tuesday.

In a way this can be viewed as a miraculous end to a seemingly impossible situation - it is as if God suddenly intervened.

As gamblers have a way of cutting through the crap and putting their money where their mouth is, the deus ex machina option may be the only way out of the election next week for the Dems. They may as well stop throwing money at television and radio advertisements and start praying.

Saying there's no way Democrats can keep control of the House, Ireland's largest bookie on Wednesday said it has already paid off all bettors who wagered the GOP would capture the chamber.

“In our opinion this race is well and truly over with nothing short of a miracle stopping the Republicans taking down the House," said Ken Robertson, communications manager for Paddy Power, the Irish bookmaker.

Mr. Robertson said the odds had tipped so much in Republicans' favor it made no sense to continue taking bets. In July Democrats were favored 8-11 to keep control, but by Wednesday the GOP was favored 1-50, meaning it would take a bet of $50 would win just an addition $1.

Other overseas bookies are still taking bets on control of the House. Victor Chandler betting house, for example, gives the GOP 1-25 odds while Betfair gives them 1-10 odds.

The Washington Post is the first of the MSM to finally commit a few columns reporting the travesty of justice committed by the US Department of Justice when it dropped the prosecution case against Maruse Heath and the New Black Panther Party. The WP story details the division and contentious relationships within the Department's Civil Rights Division and how lawyers on the public payroll believe that, unless you are a minority, you have no civil rights.

Interviews and government documents reviewed by The Washington Post show that the case tapped into deep divisions within the Justice Department that persist today over whether the agency should focus on protecting historically oppressed minorities or enforce laws without regard to race.

That this is a matter of controversy within a government agency is astounding. The law is the law no matter what color you are. Can you imagine police making DWI arrests only for black people, - then can you imagine the outrage?

Civil rights officials from the Bush administration have said that enforcement should be race-neutral. But some officials from the Obama administration, which took office vowing to reinvigorate civil rights enforcement, thought the agency should focus primarily on cases filed on behalf of minorities.
[...] Justice Department officials say they treat everyone equally. Holder, in a speech last year to the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs said the department's "commitment to Equal Protection - and to full participation in our nation's elections - will not waiver. Never."

I took today off as my wife had in-patient surgery for a torn rotator cuff this morning. She is doing well and right now is resting comfortably on the other side of the couch.

I haven't read any of his books in years, but my daughter gave me her copy of Stephen King's "The Eyes of the Dragon" last week and I took it to have something to read in the waiting room during my wife's surgery. On page 21 I read this:

This Gallop poll is based on registered voters, not likely voters. When likely voters are polled, the difference is larger.

If the elections were held today and roughly 40% of voters turned out -- a rate typical in recent years -- Gallup's Oct. 7-17 polling suggests Republicans would win 56% of the vote -- 8 points greater than their support from registered voters, and 17 points ahead of Democrats, at 39%. If turnout is significantly higher, Republicans would receive 53% of the vote (a 5-point improvement over their registered-voter figure), and the Democrats, 42%.

The likely voter estimates at both turnout levels have been consistent over the past three weeks.

Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist who went on a murderous shooting rampage that killed 13 and wounded 32 others at Fort Hood last year, is in pretrial motions. During the hearings, a witness, Pfc. Lance Aviles, stated that he recorded some of the bloodshed with his cellphone camera, but

[...] was ordered by an officer to delete both videos, a military court heard Friday.
Under cross examination, Pfc. Lance Aviles told an Article 32 hearing that his noncommissioned officer ordered him to destroy the two videos on Nov. 5, the same day a gunman unleashed a volley of bullets inside a processing center at the Texas Army post.

The footage could have been used as evidence at the military hearing to decide if Maj. Nidal Hasan should stand trial in the shootings. The 40-year-old American-born Muslim has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.

Twenty-nine witnesses over three days have appeared either in a courtroom or by video link. Prosecutors have not said whether they'll seek the death penalty if the case goes to trial.

The name of the non-commissioned officcer is not given for some reason. This order was illegal as it involved the destruction of evidence. There has got to be more to this story. It boogles the mind what these men endured as their nation struggled to rescue them.

There is no question that the Chilean rescue involved expert planning, top notch engineering, quality equipment, and the ingenious problem solving of experts from a number of countries around the world. In addition, the miners give appropriate credit to their leaders, who kept them strong emotionally and physically.

But they had a Friend, and help from Above; through adversity, we discover the source of our strength.

Villarroel said, "We had a boss ... every day he would tell us we had to be strong ... we didn't have hope. Strength comes from internal energy and prayer ... I never used to pray, [but] here I learned to pray. I got closer to God."

In Time Magazine, of all places, it was reported that:

"the atmosphere underground as being like a church service."

Nearly to a man the miners praised God as they emerged from the depths.

Jimmy Sanchez, one of the outspoken believers, said, "There are actually 34 of us, because God has never left us down here." Living in NY as long as I have, I can't say that the following story surprises me. Disgust yes, surprise, no.

What this means is that the fix is in. If anything happens at all, the heads of minor functionaries will roll ... to the next patronage job.

The Dems know that the Republicans are well represented in the military and they remember all the bad PR the party received in Florida when Gore's lawyers attempted to disqualify tens of thousands of military ballots in the 2000 election. So the best thing is to make sure that the ballots never get sent. This ~~outrageous criminal act~~ mishap

[...] means that service members may not receive their ballots in time to vote in the Nov. 2 elections. The state has 320,000 overseas and military voters.

The nine counties enumerated above represent 54% of the total population of the State of New York. There are over 49,400 registered NY voters who reside overseas, most are in the military.

And of course Schumer is crying crocodile tears over this. Despite his present feigned outrage, Schumer made no attempt to get his colleagues in the House to pass HR 5673, the Military Voting Protection Act of 2008.

The Real Reason Why Sea Turtles Are Endangered

SUV's, carbon emissions and global warming have nothing to do with the plight of the sea turtle. The following pictures show what happens in Costa Rico when female sea turtles lay their eggs on the beaches. Granted, most of the hatchings never will make it to adulthood even if they were not harvested, but that is the reason why so many eggs are laid - some do make it and the species survives. By taking so many eggs even fewer adults will be available for breeding and the species is then threatened.

I am not a bleeding heart eco-loon by any means. But even an idiot knows what will happen if this is not stopped.

Now if you look at the seventh picture, there is a man wearing light colored shorts with a blue tank top and a blue carry bag slung over his right shoulder. Look at the area by his right hip: is that a pistol holster? Sure looks like one to me.

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers, he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

'I only got a dollar out of the $20', declared the sixth man.
He pointed to the tenth man,' but he got $10!'

'Yeah, that's right', exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than me!'

'That's true!!' shouted the seventh man. 'Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!'

'Wait a minute,' yelled the first four men in unison. 'We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!'

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Police corruption is like a pox on society. We are so blessed in this country that we have, for the most part, an objective and honest law enforcement community.

I'm neither stupid nor blind. There are crooked cops. I have assisted in police corruption investigations and I have absolutely no pity for brother officers who cross the line. My badge and my honor is not worth whatever advantage I might gain from an illegal act. Unfortunately there are officers who do not think the same way.

Here are two examples; one involves widespread serial corruption and the other is just some idiot with a badge trying to scam the system.

FBI Launches Largest Cop Corruption Case Ever in Puerto Rico
The FBI launched what it calls the "largest police corruption case" in the history of the agency early this morning in Puerto Rico, arresting 129 people around the country -- most of whom were public servants ranging from police officers to municipal workers to U.S. Army soldiers. The defendants face drug trafficking charges with possible sentences ranging from 10 years to life in prison.

"The actions of these individuals proved they were not worthy of the title of public servant," Luis Fraticelli, special agent in charge of the FBI's San Juan office, said in a statement. "They violated the public's trust by using their authority for personal gain."

Next up is an example of a man who was smart enough to pass a civil service test and too stupid to stay out of jail.

MURRIETA — A San Diego police officer and his wife pleaded not guilty Wednesday to accusations that they trashed their foreclosed home and stole major appliances and decorative features before vacating.

A judge ordered Robert and Monique Acosta each to be held on $65,000 bail, during an arraignment in Riverside County Superior Court in Murrieta. They have been charged with one count each of damaging or destroying an encumbered property — a felony.

[...] A $200,000 arrest warrant was issued for the couple on Sept. 27, but authorities waited for them to show for the arraignment before arresting them.

A notice of sale was posted on their French Valley-area home on May 21, giving the couple until June 14 to vacate, according to the arrest warrant.

A representative of the San Diego Metropolitan Credit Union called Riverside County sheriff’s deputies on June 15 when she discovered the house had been trashed.

Rock facing on the front of the Via Laguna home had been ripped off, black paint and hair dye squirted all over the carpeting, the walls spray painted and electrical wires dug out from walls and cut, the affidavit described.

Missing from the home were the flagstone porch and walkway, garage doors, kitchen cabinet doors and drawers, air conditioners, a wrought iron gate, wooden beams from the living room ceiling, appliances and vanities.

[...] The total damage is estimated at $165,000, and an additional $44,000 in property was stolen.

A neighbor told investigators that he took photos of the couple moving items to two large storage units on June 12.

I guess we don't have to worry about this couple becoming master minds of a criminal empire.

Home From Kunar

Last night we attended a celebration at an American Legion Post for Billy. He came home on leave the day after I posted that earlier video of his unit under attack. He is in great spirits and his parents are absolutely delighted that he could be with them even for a short time. We managed to spent some time with the family during the celebration.

Billy had some more information on the IED ambush as mentioned in one of the recent posts below this one. He was riding "shotgun" in the same MRAP where the soldier in the weapons mount was shot in the helmet.

As Billy explained it, the bullet (a 7.62X54) that pierced the helmet was from a sniper rifle. It is a more powerful round than that which is used in an AK-47 (7.62X39). It penetrated the helmet, traveled over the solider's skull through the liner and put a three inch gash in the back of his head as it exited. The GI is only nineteen; it was his third day there - he was brand new. He is back in action but a little leery now, more cautious.

The driver of the lead MRAP that was damaged by the IED is not doing as well. His right arm was amputated below the elbow but there are complications: he has malaria and the skin grafts are not taking. He is currently recuperating at Walter Reed Hospital in DC.

We talked for a bit more and he is grateful for the prayers everyone has directed towards him. He is flying back to Afghanistan in ten days - upon his return he will be promoted to sergeant.

Speaking to his dad I got some ideas on what to send our daughter when she goes to Afghanistan next month. Snacks, personal hygiene items, powered energy beverages and small packages of candy (like Halloween portions) to hand out to Afghani children. Hooah.

My wife's cousin, Isabelle, had a stroke last night. She is doing much better right now, but will need therapy to recover full speech capabilities. While in the emergency room, the physician asked her a number of questions to determine her extent of mental acuteness and possible brain damage. She is in her mid-eighties and even after being in America for over fifty years, she still speaks English with a heavy accent.

One of the questions posed to her by the doctor was, "Can you name the President of the United States?" Isabelle struggled with the words and stammered, "The black guy.... the idiot."

She obviously has full control of her mental facilities.

We Have A Cat

One of our daughters went and got a cat last week from her boyfriend's family. Danged if she didn't call it Detective Mittens. It is a pretty little thing, sorta calico and sorta whatever. She is very skittish and is just starting to allow me and my wife to get close. My daughter has been buying this cat all kinds of stuff to amuse it, or herself, I can't decide.

As for me, personally, I am not a real cat person. Sure, they're - cute and all that. And we do have problems with field mice getting into the house every now and then. As a matter of fact I just trapped one yesterday and the cat was useless. But a dog will earn its keep with fang and bark and I'd just as soon make her work for a living too. Then I remembered my laser pointer. She earns her keep now by making me laugh.

101st Combat Brigrade - Kunar Province

Since my in-laws passed, we have spend the last few Christmas Eves at my wife's cousin's house - Isabelle and her daughter Delores. Isabelle's husband, Vince, passed away about ten years ago; he and my FIL were first cousins. Vince and Isabelle immigrated from Monopoli, Italy, in the early fifties and moved to Syracuse where they could be with family. It was a big joke that Vince received a small monthly pension check from Italy for his service in the Italian Navy during WWII. Vince would shrug and grin. If the Italian Navy ever found out what he did (or didn't do), they would have shot him. Vince was a lover, not a fighter.

There is a family that Delores met while she was working as a representative for a large faucet manufacturer. For the past several years these wonderful people have also joined Isabelle and Delores for Christmas Eve and we have become friends with them. Last year their oldest son, Bill, was home from Iraq and he joined all of us in a great time of fellowship and food (Isabelle can cook like nobody's business). Like his dad, Bill is extremely tall; he has been in the Army for about four years now.

Bill is currently assigned to Alpha Company, 2-327th Infantry, 101st Combat Brigade. He is in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. At the bottom is a Global Post video that shows Bill's unit under attack. An IED explodes and the lead vehicle in a convoy is heavily damaged. There is an exchange of small arms fire. Several men are injured. By the grace of God no one lost their life.

There are three parts to this video. In the first segment, the IED has detonated and you are inside an armored vehicle during the small arms exchange. The soldier manning the grenade launcher is shot in the head. His helmet absorbs most of the round and he is knocked out of the weapon mount. He is concussed by the force of the hit but alive and bleeding slightly. His buddies tend to his wound.

In the second segment you are now outside the armored vehicle. You will first see a soldier wearing sunglasses and gesticulating - waving his arms while giving directions. This is Bill. Then you will see soldiers tending to the wounded who were in the lead convoy combat vehicle - heavily damaged and on fire from the IED. The driver was seriously injured.

In the third segment you will listen as one of the soldiers relives the incident with his buddies and the seriously wounded driver is evacuated by helicopter to a hospital.

New Jersey Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Closes After Christie Cuts Funds

Trenton, NJ (LifeNews.com) -- After the New Jersey state Senate defeated an attempt to override the decision of Gov. Chris Christie to cut off state taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood abortion businesses, the first facility run by the national abortion giant is closing.

The Cherry Hill Courier Post newspaper says a Planned Parenthood facility located on Haddonfield Road and operated by Planned Parenthood of Southern New Jersey will close down.

PP-SNJ stands to lose as much as $160,000 in taxpayer funds because of Christie's decision and the upholding of his veto. With the closing of the Cherry Hill center, Planned Parenthood customers seeking abortions or other "services" must go to PP centers in Camden, Bellmawr, and Edgewater Park.

In NYS, inmates who received capital punishment sentences were housed at a single location, Ossining, AKA "Sing Sing", in Westchester County where the death sentence was carried out. If NYS built more correctional facilities that could carry out this function, the libs would be screaming bloody murder (mheh!). But for the self same libs, too many abortion clinics are not enough. If you want to murder your unborn child you should not have to be inconvenienced.

Planned Parenthood of Southern New Jersey president Lynn Brown told the newspaper, "We are in think mode and creative mode and we are doing all that we can to try and salvage to see as many people as we need to see."

This is a very revealing slip. She doesn't say that they want to help women who need a service. She wants "to see as many people as we need to see." To. Turn. A. Profit.
"We all know it's strictly ideological," Brown said of the funding cuts to the abortion business. "This is a very frustrating and perplexing time for us."

While the Cherry Hill center does not do abortions, it gives abortion referrals to Planned Parenthood offices in Hamilton Square, Princeton, and Trenton where abortions are done on women and unborn children.

Let's get the terminology straight.
You perform abortions on women, not unborn children - those you murder. Okay?

But kudos to Gov. Christie for taking steps to save children and taxpayer money. I trust he is just getting started.

It is amazing how a self-stylied community organizer such as Obama failed to see the nation-wide community organizing that was going on right under his nose in the guise of the Tea Party. There are only two reasons for this: detachment and/or incompetence. I suspect a lot of both was at play.

The Dems are in full panic mode right now as they see the iceberg approaching. It wasn't so much that the ocean was free of obstructions such as this, minor ones are encountered all the time and are easily dismissed. It's just that this one is so big and was created so quickly outside the normal iceberg channels.

Iceberg specialists disregarded this one until it was too late. The Captain and his Lieutenants mocked any chance that this particular iceberg could damage such a great ship under his command. Ignoring all warnings, he steamed straight ahead.

Public anger in Switzerland is growing after police failed to apprehend 67-year-old Peter Hans Kneubuehl two days after he barricaded himself at home in a dispute over the house's sale.

After holing up in the house Wednesday, Kneubuehl opened fire at police early Thursday and then successfully fled even as police surrounded the house.

Some 100 police officers including SWAT teams, dog handlers and a helicopter equipped with heat-detecting cameras have been deployed to search for the man.

Pearl Harbor was never forgotten or forgiven by those who lived through WWII. German-Americans were not locked up in concentration camps like the Japanese. It was the nature of the attack. Germany declared war and then sunk our ships. Perhaps not by design, but Japan attacked American forces hours before declaring war. The outrage experienced by my parents' generation was such that I was brought up to distrust any Japanese because of Pearl Harbor and the perception that the "dirty Japs" were never to be trusted. I have since learned otherwise.

More people were killed on September 11, 2001, then were on December 7, 1941; sixty years earlier only 55 civilians lost their lives. Nine years ago nearly all deaths were civilian. Already the memory is fading, the outrage cooling, the resolve waning among many Americans.

I know there are honorable Muslims but I am unlikely to accept them on face value. I do not want them to be placed in concentration camps, but I do want all visas for Muslims wishing to come to the US to be canceled until this sorry, murderous mess is sorted out.

The Muslims have never apologized for their use of unarmed civilians to carry out their attacks. In fact, they still blame us. Muslims danced in the streets as nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives.
I will never forget the sight of Palestinians celebrating and giving candy to their children as Americans burned in the fires of 9/11.

I will never forget the treachery of Islam and it's arrogant marginalization of everything outside its narrow purview that led to this attack.

And keep your damn, stinking mosque away from GZ.

John Lennon's killer has again been denied parole, nearly 30 years after gunning down the ex-Beatle outside the singer's New York City apartment building.

A parole board on Tuesday denied Mark David Chapman his freedom after an interview at Attica Correctional Facility in upstate New York.

"A three member panel of the parole board interviewed Chapman this morning and we just got results back a little while ago," NY State Division of Parole spokesman Marc Violette told FoxNews.com. "He has been denied parole."

It was Chapman's sixth appearance before the parole board since becoming eligible for release in 2000. He's eligible again in 2012.

I dare say that Mr. Chapman should prepare himself for the only thing he'll be seeing outside of the Attica Correctional Facility: worms.

When Immigration Reform Equals Surrender

Over to that great site - The American Thinker - Bob Weir has a post wherein he exclaims that he is sick and tired of the debate over immigration reform.

If I hear one more politician, news anchor, or talk show host say that the first thing we must do to stop illegal immigration is "secure the border," I think I'm going to be sick. Moreover, if I hear the term "comprehensive immigration reform" again, I'll probably begin to retch with disgust. The reason for my stomach-turning impulse comes from the frustration I feel when I hear meaningless phrases used repeatedly by those who have no plan for their implementation.

And I can agree with that. So much verbiage, so little action.

We hear about building a 2,000-mile fence as we watch videos of people climbing over portions of recently constructed fences. We hear about state and federal officers assigned to guard the border while acknowledging that we don't have enough manpower to become 24-hour sentinels, stretching across several states. When U.S. citizens take it upon themselves to organize and guard their borders, they're maligned as "vigilantes" and "hate-mongers" by those who know how to work the system to turn common sense on its head.

And again, I concur with Mr. Weir. Half measures only frustrate or infuriate us. It is like a surgeon stitching up only half a gaping wound. Groundskeepers mowing only half the baseball field. Carpenters building only half your house. Getting only half a slice of cheesecake.

Euphemisms are going to be the death of us because their usage tends to transmogrify reality. If you are a citizen of this country, the United States is your home! When someone breaks into your home, he should be referred to as a lawbreaker, not stroked and coddled like a lost pet that strayed into your yard. Would a burglar, walking along the street with your television on his shoulder, be called an undocumented shopper? By what stretch of the imagination is the word "illegal" a term that describes hatred for an ethnic group? Let's get real! The fact is that these are red herring tactics used by those trying to defend an indefensible position.

So far so good. Well said sir! Now let's finish the work. Let us hear what a retired NYPD Detective Sergeant has to say about the rampant criminal acts being perpetrated on our southernmost borders.

So is it a stretch to say that the INS should provide less stringent regulation and allow a greater number people to become citizens? If that amount were to be doubled or tripled, would we have the same problems at the border? The large numbers of people crossing the border illegally are doing so because there are plenty of U.S. employers willing to hire them.

Consequently, it would appear to be a no-brainer that we should expedite those citizenship papers, allow them to become taxpaying citizens, and lessen the burden on the Border Patrol and on those people, who sincerely want to enter legally,
contribute to this country and build a better life for their families.

Huh? Wha' happen? We went from over 12 million criminals breaking our laws by flooding willy nilly over our borders (Pssst! Bob! Remember the house analogy? Burglars? Lawbreakers? Huh?) and somehow wind up with processing paperwork a bit faster to solve the problem.

One of the benefits of sovereignty is having the authority to control your borders. Once you no longer control your borders can you say you are still a sovereign nation? It has become quite obvious that the citizens of a foreign nation now control our southernmost border. Under these or other circumstances this could be called an act of war - an invasion whereby the citizens of another country (armed and unarmed) stream across the border to do as they like. And many of them seem to prefer killing, raping, robbing and stealing. Gee, sounds like an invading army, doesn't it? It is not by accident that a third of all California state prison inmates are not citizens of the United States.

But, using the aforementioned solution, could it be that Mr. Weir is recommending that Poland should have granted citizenship to the 1.8 million Germans who illegally crossed the Polish border on September 1, 1939? Likewise the Belgians, the Dutch and the French follow suit?

Hey - problem solved! WWII averted! Peace in our time!

"Shi'a radical Islam and Wahhabism is coming to this country," Imani said. "There are 6,000 mosques in the United States now. All the money [we] put into gasoline
comes back here and is used in the teaching of hate, violence, etc., etc." in American mosques, he said.
Sultan, who said she regularly gets death threats and emails from people saying they will cut off her fingers and rape her daughters because she left Islam, said it is merely a myth that Islamic terrorists misinterpret 'true' Islam for nefarious purposes.

Westerners "don't want to judge anybody based on their [religion]," Sultan said, "[But] Islam is not a religion. Islam is a very dangerous political ideology. ... There is no such thing as radical Islam and regular Islam or spiritual Islam. ...There is only one Islam."

As I ponder the choices that will be available for my children and grandchildren after I journey to the Squad Car in the Sky, I wonder just how President Obama can justify his economic policies. Most Americans are not stupid despite the best efforts of the National Education Association and we can see that wasting taxpayer dollars to the tune of an annual trillion dollar plus deficit is not working. Why do the Dems and Obama maintain this facade? Why push the United States into a situation that changes our economic status into that of a third world shithole?

The answer is staring us right in the face.
Poverty breeds discontent.
Discontent breeds fanaticism.
Fanaticism fuels the Democrats.
Democrats support the socialist movers and shakers.
Socialist policies cause poverty and the establishment of an elitist oligarchy.

Fanatics are easy to direct. They have their own fragile, internal logic that incapable of withstanding outside influence and reason. That is why Islam kills converts to other religions.

Fanatics don't need no stinking badges.

Obama's policies will enable the US to join the ranks of some of the foulest shitholes on earth.
In many of those countries when things go wrong, they blame the Jews.

I am always eager to hear from the guys who are actually doing the work. As a police supervisor I wanted to hear form my men what was going down, how they accomplished their assignments within the parameters of the orders they were given. Even if I couldn't change a thing I wanted them to know that I was listening and had a healthy interest in what they had to say. This is extremely important for morale and helps ensure that if there is a problem brewing, enough people trust you enough to let you know before it gets out of hand.

So on two different fronts I am glad to hear from the people directly involved in saving our asses.

I found out within the past few days that my daughter, Soldier Girl, will be going to Afghanistan within the next two months. I trust God that she will be returned to us safe and sound. She finally got out of training this month but her unit has already deployed. She was very disappointed that the Army changed her orders when she arrived at Fort Bragg. She didn't get assigned to a Combat Brigade in the 82nd AB as her original orders stated when she left Goodfellow AFB.

I know I cannot rely upon this administration to do what's right or even to describe what is happening with any degree of accuracy. But I know I can trust my Lord and Savior. And I believe that is also well said.

There are just too many distractions for today's drivers. I see young people driving 70 mph staring at their laps because they are texting; I see women applying make up; I even saw a guy shaving. And now this:

A Cincinnati woman was simultaneously masturbating with a sex toy and watching a pornographic video while driving last week, according to cops who arrested her on assorted criminal charges.

Home Again - And The Glorification of Sluts

We just returned home after five days on Chaumont Bay. We stayed at my wife's cousin's camp - with my daughters, my SIL (the mighty hunter) and the four grandkids - thirteen of us when the two boyfriends showed up on Saturday.

Life with four daughters ... it's a wonder I have any hair left at all. And these guys can eat.

The weather was not cooperative, just one sunny day and the rest of the time it was clouds, clouds, clouds and high winds as these two photos show. Forget about casting in this wind. The top photo is my SIL fishing with my oldest grandson and one of his friends who came for the trip. There are problems in this kid's family and we invited him so he could get away from his heartache for awhile. Sometimes it is a terrible thing to be only ten years old.

I got a single day of good fishing weather and nothing bigger than six inches was hitting.

One of the Bay's resident fishing experts, Cap'n Bob (I met him at the neighbor's camp during their weekend party) said no one has been catching anything for the past three weeks. And this is one of the largest fresh water bays in the world with year-round, world-class fishing!

Even the birds (I think that's a heron on our dock) looked hungry.

So, back to Syracuse and back on-line to read The Post (the NY of course, not the DC fish wrap) and one of their columnists, Andrea Peyser, hits a grand slam outta the park:

Grooms Gone Wild!

In the small village of Akcagoze in south central Turkey (about 50 miles north of the Syrian border), a groom decided to celebrate at his wedding reception by firing a fully automatic AK-47 into the air. This display of celebratory gunfire is common in Turkey even when you are surrounded by friends and loved one. Or maybe because you are surrounded by friends and loved ones.

Turkey is, of course, predominantly Muslim. I have been to many Irish Catholic and Protestant weddings and have never seen so much as a water pistol or firecracker used to manifest the groom's delight at the acquisition of a bride.

Despite the unlimited availability and consumption of adult beverages at these affairs there was nary a fist fight or an unkind word exchanged in my hearing at any American wedding. Though one of my aunts fell down and broke her hip at my brother's wedding; but my uncle Pat denied pushing her despite the fact that this was his third or fourth wife.

But what was decidedly uncommon in this Turkish wedding was the fact that the slap happy ~~cabbage~~ groom lost control of his assault rifle and mowed down almost a dozen people, killing his father and two aunts.

Apparently the VA's disability claims system has collapsed with a backlog of over 1 million claims. Wounded troops who have been discharged from the military have to wait an average of six months to get their first disability check. Those who appeal the size of their check can wait for years.

1530 miles later; 1800 for Soldier Girl as she left Goodfellow AFB before I took off from Newark and met me at DFW with her battle buddy Eastman. He took a flight to Cleveland to see family and will be stopping by our house later later in the week on his was to his new assignment in GA. Seems like there wasn't enough room on the plane for him and his guitar so it accompanied us on our trip home. We'll stuff him with pasta and put him up for the night to help him on his to GA. Maybe he'll play for us. Soldier Girl says he plays rather well. Eastman is a nice kid, they were in the same training battalion in basic (Ft. Leonard Wood) and have the same MOS - been through the exact same training now for two years.

It is amazing how much of America looks the same from a two lane. TX was flat as a pancake and hot as a pistol. We left DFW at about 1:00 PM Central time and were in Arkansas about 5-5:30. Lots of road construction along the way on I 30; I believe it is probably stimulus funded.

Lots and lots of Ford pickups and SUV's on those roads. Not very many Chevy and Dodge trucks. My daughter's four-year old Nissan was dwarfed by all the 150's and 250's that passed us. I really missed my Explorer as her little car was stuffed with all her gear and Eastman's gitfiddle. I am 250 lbs plus and was pretty well surrounded in the passenger seat. She wanted to do all the driving so there I sat with my ass about four inches off the ground - at least it felt that way.

Things got a lot greener as we passed Texarkana. Lots of state police doing busy work. It was nice to see trees again. Everything was pretty lush. And my ass was still four inches off the ground.

We pulled into a nice LaQuinta hotel in Memphis around 10:45 PM. And swam to the front door. It was in the low nineties and 250% humidity. Up at oh dark hundred and back on the road by 6:15 AM.

Tennessee is s beautiful state filled with flowers, trees and state police. We were in Kentucky a bit later and if it weren't for the big sign, you wouldn't know the difference. Even the bug spatters didn't change - though we did drive through a large mating bug binge fur ball or something that pretty much painted the car and made the windshield wipers weep.

We didn't see much of Louisville at all but stopped at a place for gas and the most disgusting Hostess chocolate mini-donuts I have ever sampled. I will eat almost anything that is dipped in chocolate but these truly fell below my miserable standards. It was more like a package of chocolate covered penance. Next stop for gas in Kentucky we found a Dunking Donuts place (thank you Lord!) and bought a Nashville coffee cup for my wife. One half of the rack was for TN souvenirs and the other half KY. They also were selling NY Giants mugs. Go figure.

Heading towards Cincinnati. CinnTown is a very good looking City; unfortunately we encountered the worst traffic of our trip - probably added an additional half hour but for a 1500 mile jaunt, that isn't too bad...

What can I say about Ohio? Once we left CinnTown we hit the corn belt. And idiots in fast little cars. And no troopers. It seemed to take forever to drive through Ohio, skirting Columbus and then Cleveland. Made a wrong lane change getting to I-71 outside Columbus and had to backtrack some. By now we were eleven hours outside of Memphis and starting to get a little edgy. Seven more hours to go. The joy was gone.

We stopped again just east of Cleveland and grabbed some subs and gasoline. Tried a cold bottled Starbucks mocha Frappucino there - good stuff, very tasty (chocolate). Kept me awake without the concomitant need to pee right away. My daughter had one also. We slammed down Philly Cheesesteak subs and back on the road.

Now we are on I-90; this takes us right to Syracuse. Just point the car and stay awake for six more hours. Lots and lots and lots of road construction. I wish I had invested some money in orange traffic barrels. Or Frappucino. Those stinking Pennsylvania orange barrels were like a blurred nightmare. Miles of them. Hating us. Mocking us. I think I was getting a little overcaffeinated.

We started the day in high spirits. By time we hit the NY border it was like "ARRRRGH Please God Make It Stop!"

My daughter likes Celtic rock bands or whatever they call themselves. We had been listening to quite a mixed bag of music all the way home until now. We went through Texas playing the Beach Boys and the Turtles. Arkansas was a mixed bag of oldies and bluegrass. Tennessee we were playing Johnny Cash. I bought a Stones oldies CD in OH at a truck stop.

Soldier Girl had an iPod and I had my Blackberry jacked into her car radio. In eastern PA she really needed to keep awake and the best way to do this was for her to play this God awful music. It was like a bunch of liquored up IRA terrorists had tripped over some drums, guitars and an accordion. What the hell... I think someone had a fiddle too.

I finally used my noise cancelling headphones and put on a Strauss opera. Just in time for the NY toll booths. By this time we had driven slightly over 1200 miles from Dallas without paying anybody anything other than for gas, food and lodging. And a coffee cup. No tolls.

Welcome to NY, pay me bitch, pay me now.

It was pitch dark and raining intermittently. We were both hallucinating and had to pee. Three more hours.

I don't remember much of the rest of the trip. Soldier Girl let me play "Ist Ein Traum, Kann Nicht Wirklich Sein" from Der Rosenkavalier and then tried to kill me. Some of you may think it was justifiable.

We got home at 12:45 AM. Mummsie and Boof were waiting up and there was a very joyous reunion in the doorway. It took them twenty minutes just to get out of the garage and into the kitchen.

One thousand, five hundred-thirty miles. Lord, thank you for the travel mercies. It was a great trip, a memory I will cherish always.

Long Day

I'm in Memphis tonight. My daughter is getting transferred to Ft. Bragg and is taking some furlough. I thought I'd keep her compay for the trip home. She picked me up at DFW at 1300 and we drove just beyond Memphis before finding a place to crash. God willing we will be back in Syracuse late Sat or early Sun morning. Been on the go since 0430 this morning and gotta get some rest. *yawn* My soldier girl is all through with training (2 years of it) and now, as she says, "I finally have a job." She's in the 82nd Airborne.

“The U.S. is spending taxpayer money on Kenya’s constitutional referendum,” Issa told The Daily Caller. “The underlying concern is that U.S. funds and efforts are being used to interfere in Kenya’s internal debate over abortion, which is part of the debate over the new constitution. There is evidence that U.S. funds are supporting groups and events with a pro-abortion agenda and that funds have been spent to advance a specific outcome on the referendum. If so, this would violate federal law.”

And of course we can expect the rest of the MSM to bring this possible breach of US law to the nation's attention.

BEIRUT -- The leading Shiite cleric in Lebanon and one of the sect's most revered religious authorities, Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah, died Sunday after a long illness. He was 75.
[...]Seen by some as a spiritual mentor to the Hezbollah militant movement and by others as a voice of pragmatism and religious moderation, Fadlallah enjoyed a following that stretched beyond Lebanon's borders to Iraq, the Gulf and as far away as central Asia.

He was seen as a religious moderate only by those who wanted to boil the Jooos prior to beheading them. This nutcase made sure that Muslim suicide truck drivers wore seat belts and used hand signals on their way to destroying the US Marine barracks (October 23, 1983 )and the US Embassy (April 18, 1983) in Beirut, Lebanon.

During Lebanon's 1975-90 civil war, he was linked to Iranian-backed Shiite militants who kidnapped Americans and other Westerners, and bombed the U.S. Embassy and Marine base in Lebanon, killing more than 260 Americans.
Western intelligence sources at the time said Fadlallah blessed the drivers of the vehicles used in the attack on the Marine barracks and a simultaneous bombing of French troops in Beirut, although the cleric repeatedly denied the assertion.

As an undergrad I remember two grad students, man and wife, who lived down the street from us. They both attended the American University in Beirut in the early sixties. It was a beautiful, beautiful city as they described it. Beirut was called the Paris of the Mediterrean back then --- until Muslim terrorists turned it into another shithole as is their want.

This just blew me away. A former Marine stuns a tea party rally in Douglas County, Georgia.
A conservative talk radio host, Herman Cain, is answering quesions from the crowd when the following patriotic, God-fearing vet speaks his mind.

God bless our armed forces- the men and women who serve our great Nation.

I believe we are in serious peril; deep, deep trouble as our heritage, our traditions and our liberties face extinction from a godless, liberal onslaught. Concerned Americans feel threatened and isolated during these times. We can say "In God we trust" until the cows come home but what does it accomplish if there are no actions behind our words? When it is perceived that we are in full retreat we must first stop running. In the Old Testament the way to begin the process of regeneration is thus:

Isaiah 11:12
And He will lift up a standard for the nations and assemble the banished ones of Israel, and will gather the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth.

That is what that that gentlemen did in Douglas County; he raised a standard, a banner for patriots to rally under. Love of country is what binds us as a nation. Without that, we are merely another loose-knit social group that will be overwhelmed and engulfed by those who do share a vigorous national identity.

Know what you stand for. There are many diverse opinions that divide us; cling to the ones that unite us. Get involved! Vote! Volunteer to become precinct captains!

And pray for our Nation. In order for God to bless America, America must return to Him as the originator of our freedoms.

Useless By Any Definition

Riddle me this:

Why aren't these black balaclava-clad assholes lying in a hospital bed somewhere in Toronto with a police baton embedded sideways up their colon?

Every time I see criminals who call themselves demonstrators racing through the streets of a beautiful city raising all kinds of hell I wonder, as did the inestimable Mr. Steyn: "What the HELL are the cops doing? Where are they? Why aren't they breaking heads, taking names and kicking some serious ass? What the hell are they getting paid for if not to protect the property of the people who are paying their salaries that pays their mortgages, buys their groceries and sends their kids to college?"

OK, the Toronto cops arrested 400 rioters ... out of an estimated 10,000.

Police used shields, clubs, tear gas and pepper spray to push back the rogue protesters who tried to head south toward the security fence surrounding the Group of 20 summit site.

Push them back? There should be 5,000 rioters staggering around Ontario Province right now looking for a doctor to stitch up gaping head wounds and set their broken bones. Working midnights we always had a flashlight in hand, a big one made from aircraft aluminum called a Kel Light. I once used a five or six D-cell Kel Light to take down doors.

Injuries such as those aforementioned were described as "Kel-Lightis" or "Kel-Lightatosis." The scars these instruments left were rather unique. It was very much like tagging migratory animals on the forehead.

Look at this; I see maybe one cop carrying a baton (not even a riot stick, looks like an ASP baton at the extreme right in the background) and one cop carrying a tear gas grenade launcher with extra grenades slung across his chest. What are the rest of the guys carrying? Nothing.

Not a single shotgun in the politically correct bunch. Here's a piece of advice: load up a bunch of scatterguns with number six shot and let those "demonstrators" have it in their legs or aim at the asphalt a few yards in front of them and let the lead and bits of blacktop ricochet into their calves and thighs. No pushing required, let the lead do the work like God intended.

I guess I'm more pissed off at their commanders and the politicians who obviously gave the orders to allow these rampaging fools to torch the City of Toronto. Maybe they feel that since the insurance companies and taxpayers will cover the costs of all the damage and mayhem there's no need to get nasty ... and act like cops. What a crock.
